I was up at 5am again this morning working on my Ed.D.? It’s hard when it’s so dark and it’s the end of term…

After looking at various research methodologies, I think I’m going to go for a combination of a hermenutic, philosophical and pragmatic approaches in the dialectical tradition. It could all end up a mess, but I think I’m on to something: digital literacies are culturally and very specifically situated, but have broader elements which can be discussed, synthesized and made sense of.

Here’s what I’ve been looking at today - all from the Handbook of Complementary Methods in Education Research:

I went to London yesterday. To say that it’s not my favourite place in the world is somewhat of an understatement: why on earth anyone would want to live or work there is beyond me. Anyway, I still had a reasonable time and got to see an exhibition I’d be looking forward to seeing since earlier this year.

Wittgenstein’s Poker

Last night I finished reading Wittgenstein’s Poker: the story of a ten minute argument between two great philosophers. It’s actually one of a number of books I occasionally buy originally for my mother which we then both read and then talk about, fairly informally and on an ad-hoc basis This particular book I would recommend for the intelligent non-specialist, as to someone with a degree in Philosophy (like myself) it’s a bit shallow in places…
